Description

The difference at Camp Sonshine—what brings our campers back year after year—is the special relationship between our staff and campers. We hire competent individuals from across the United States and around the world who are committed to the development of each camper. In fact, we work closely with respected cultural exchange organizations in order to hire great staff who add a unique, international flavor to your child’s camp experience. Our staff members know how to help children feel at home from the start, and are intentional as they encourage campers to trust in their abilities, grow, learn, and have fun in an upbeat, positive Christian environment. Above all, our staff members love children and have the determination to make a positive difference in the lives of children. At Camp Sonshine, a great staff means a great summer for parents and campers.

Extraordinary counselors! The nurturing, loving, thoughtful, friendly, and highly motivated and qualified staff complements the program. --Jane T.

Safety and Security

...you can rest easy with

When you send your child off to camp each day, you can feel confident and relaxed that your child will be surrounded by trained counselors and well thought out programs developed with safety in mind. Our concern for your peace of mind and the safety of each camper is evident throughout our grounds and in all our activity procedures. Our health center is staffed by a full-time, certified specialist, whose only focus is the safety and health of each camper. Our extensive recruiting and hiring process is an assurance that we have hand-picked the individuals who will influence your child. In addition, we prepare our staff through hands-on training that is among the most extensive you’ll find anywhere.  This training continues with follow-up sessions throughout the summer. Our low 1:6 staff-to-camper ratio ensures campers receive the attention they need to thrive and keep safe! We are proud of our “Safety First!” attitude that has given our licensed and accredited camp an excellent safety record year after year.

The leadership is clearly committed to creating a safe- physically and emotionally- and fun environment for the kids. The focus is clearly on the kids and careful counselor selection.

Quality

...you can count on

What makes camp stress-free for parents at Camp Sonshine is our commitment to quality and excellence in all we do. Our passion for excellence has resulted in our accreditation by the American Camp Association (ACA). ACA accreditation assures parents that a camp has thoroughly reviewed its operational practices, sought the wisdom of other camp professionals, and complied with over 300 professional camp standards that go beyond state and federal laws. ACA standards are recognized as the standard for excellence in program practices, health care, staff, transportation, and administrative procedures. In addition, Camp Sonshine has a customer service team committed to providing you with legendary service, from locating a lost lunch box to a question on how your child is doing. The bottom line is this: we exist to serve you and your child. We will do what it takes to continue our tradition of excellence.

Camp Sonshine is far and away the best camp I’ve ever encountered as a child or an adult. My son comes home every day happy and tired with a cheerful glow about him. After having attended two other camps, my son remarked, “I had more fun in one day at Camp Sonshine than two weeks at that other camp!

Christian Values

...you can believe in

What makes summer camp a place of growth and memories? Of course, the answer involves fun-filled adventures and exciting activities, but we believe it should be more. Camp Sonshine is a place where caring adult staff members can partner with parents to invest in the social, emotional, and spiritual development of children—an investment that will help them realize their God-given potential and to handle the challenges of adulthood. We have selected key values and concepts from the Bible—such as compassion, honesty, and forgiveness—to make a positive difference in campers’ relationships at school and at home. We encourage you to call a director or come by to find out more about how Camp Sonshine provides a foundation for success.

Camp Sonshine truly lives up to the Christian values of love, kindness, caring and forgiveness. My son can see that young people can be cool AND live Christian values.
