The Global Public Service Academies were founded with an understanding that students from high school through college can make a difference in the world. All of our academies are summer experiences in the developing world formed around a partnership with a top US university. We know that working with US faculty in an international setting allows students to learn and contribute in ways that a domestic summer camp or volunteer experience can't.As a participant, you'll work along side a faculty member in the classroom and in a developing world setting. Every day, you'll be working to improve health care for the poor or to protect a fragile ecosystem. You'll be staying with a local family. You'll get to know what their life is like firsthand. Most importantly, you'll be making a difference.
Each academy is limited to 30 students per location, so it is important to get your application in on time. Visit our academies to find out more and to apply.Your experience begins a few days before departing the US on the campus of one of our top universities. During your pre-departure workshop, you'll learn to facilitate several screening measurements (height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, heart rate, vision screening, pulse oximetry, etc), to conduct post-care consultations (patient advocacy), complete some introductory cultural and language training and learn critical skills for helping university faculty and graduate students conduct their research.
