The Alaska Kayak School offers paddling instruction and coaching in sea kayak, whitewater kayak, surf kayak, open canoe and safety and rescue skills for Alaskan conditions. Certified instructors of the American Canoe Association and coaches trained by the British Canoe Union teach our courses and guide our instructional tours.



Tom is a recovering wildlife biologist turned paddling instructor - was a birder before discovering paddling. Tom's multi-discipline open boat-sea kayak-whitewater kayak-coach and instructor qualifications led to the formation of the school.

Laura's grace on the water, photographic and video productions and kayak coaching skills make her the "heart" behind the school.
