KUA is a unique school for many reasons and in ALL seasons. Blessed with a beautiful campus environment and near to Dartmouth College and the Upper Valley of the Connecticut River, we have formed special partnerships with our neighbors that enhance the opportunities for study in the summer.
You can join us to learn a new language, or improve on one you are presently studying, the quick and fun way through our renowned ALPs at Kimball Union Rassias Method tm program. Taught by staff trained by the internationally recognized program begun by Dartmouth Professor John Rassias, ALPs (Accelerated Language Programs) immerses students in a comprehensive language learning environment. Master teachers and their assistants lead students in activities, drills, songs, and stories designed to build basic language skills and cultural understanding while having fun and making many new friends from around the world. Participants range in ages from 11 to 17, and interact with native-speaking students who come to the summer program to learn English. The following languages will be taught during the ALPs at Kimball Union 2010 program: Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, and English as a Second Language.
You can also come to KUA during the summer session to take part in our award winning E.E. Just Environmental Leadership Institute, with programs that train tomorrow's leaders on environmental issues such as dealing with climate change to introducing students to the study of cultures and ecosystems as far away as Costa Rica and Greenland or as close as the White Mountains region of New Hampshire.
Or combine your interest in learning a new language and sustainability by taking part in the ALPS Rainforest Adventure in Costa Rica, a 21 day opportunity to learn Spanish in one of the most fascinating ecosystems in the world.
