Prelude Chamber Music, Inc. was founded in 2002 by three colleagues from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra: Christopher Chappell, Violinist; Vernon Humbert, Cellist; and Jeanne Majors, Violinist.
Our mission is to give musicians at every ability level an opportunity to experience chamber music in a positive and non-competitive way, and to enjoy chamber music now as students, and throughout their lives.
Our main event is the Prelude Chamber Music Camp. The 9th camp season is June 14–19, 2010. This is an incredible opportunity for students to learn and enjoy from some of the area's leading music teachers. Click on the Music Camp logo to learn more, and to download an application.
In addition to our summer camp, we send ensembles to perform outreach programs in retirement communities, nursing homes, and other public venues. We also organize mentoring programs with adults and youngsters playing chamber music together. We help to publicize concerts of interest presented by the Beaches & Riverside Fine Arts Series, the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, the Friday Musicale, and by all our community universities & colleges.
NEWS: On November 10, 2009 the Ritz Chamber Players performed a recital at All Saints Episcopal. Those who attended were generous to contribute $2,000 for tuition for underserved campers’ tuition. This is a nice start for our 2010 camp donations!
