Description

Housed in a large, restored, historic brick building from the 1800's in the Arts District of the American Sector, the New Orleans School of GlassWorks & Printmaking Studio is the South's largest facility incorporating contemporary glass blowing arena, glass casting, scientific glass torch working, stained glass, silver alchemy jewelry, printmaking, paper marbling, pop-up book engineering, and bookbinding. The various working artist studios are ideal to select a distinctive treasure to remember your visit, and is complemented by educational and cultural exhibits in the front room, New Orleans ArtWorks Gallery. The studio serves multiple purposes and provides an opportunity for visitors to see breathtaking, FREE DAILY DEMONSTRATIONS by master craftsmen, blowing glass in the traditional, elegant, European style.



Since it's opening in 1990, the New Orleans GlassWorks and Printmaking Studio has been the site of national and international exhibitions and demonstrations highlighting the work of prominent masters in the worlds of glass, printmaking, and metal sculpture. We have been host to many master craftsmen including, Pino Signoretto, Paul Stankard, Richard Royal, Lucio Bubacco, Udo Zembok, Frank van den Ham, William Gudenrath, James Mongrain, Jonathan Christie, Daniel Schreiber, Curtiss Brock, Rick Satava, Rick Beck, Debra May, Fabienne Picaud, and Gilles Charbrier.



The New Orleans School of GlassWorks & Printmaking Studio has been featured in NBC's Today Show - Travel Segment w/ Peter Greenberg, Lynette Jennings Design, CNN, Boston Globe, New York Times - Travel Section, Southern Living, Southern Accents, Watch it Made in the USA, Romantic Days & Nights New Orleans, Fodors, Frommers, Lonely Planet, and 101 South LA Field Trips.
