Thank you for your interest in Camp Flintlock. The business was established in 1999 by Mr. and Mrs. Tim Langdon of Four Oaks, NC. They had the idea that "People, particularly children, should have the opportunity to learn about history by living it". Initially Camp Flintlock began as a summer camp. Today, the business is a collection of several Colonial American programs including: summer camp, field trips, overnight encampments, and fife & drum music as well as partnerships with Colonial American historic sites.
Mr. Langdon's love for American history and the great outdoors emerged at an early age, as evidenced by his mohawk haircut when he was just five. While retaining these interests, he went on to receive his Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Today, Mr. Langdon still keeps his Pharmacy license current while working full time as Owner & Director of Camp Flintlock.
Mrs. Langdon grew up with a love for being creative and enjoyed working with children. After receiving many honors and awards for art, she went on to receive a Bachelors of Art in Liberal Arts from the State University of New York at Purchase, and a Bachelors of Science in Education from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. Later she went on to teach art in the NC Public School System. Currently, she homeschools their three children, George, Gabrielle, and Gaston, while assisting with the year-round Camp Flintlock business.
They all reside in an Eighteenth Century style log home which Mr. Langdon built with the help of family and friends. This home also serves as the business headquarters, family schoolhouse, and much more!
