Adventure Education Manitoba was organized and established in 1995.  It originated with the interests of its founders to provide quality outdoor programming for all people.  The founders of AEM, Gary Monkman and Mick Lautt, share similar backgrounds but with different strengths.   They also shared a strong belief that adventure activities in a natural environment can enhance opportunities for personal growth and development.

Over time AEM has delivered programs and developed partnerships with large groups, community recreation centers, and camps across the province of Manitoba.  In the fall of 1996, AEM teamed up with the Winnipeg School Division, Winnipeg Police Service and Manitoba Justice to design and deliver the award winning CHOICES Youth Program.

By working with school systems, community organizations and groups  around the province, and with corporate teams large and small, both Gary and Mick have been able to carry forward the adventure-based learning mandate of Adventure Education Manitoba since 1995.

When this learning modes come together, learning is accelerated. During experiential learning programs, each of these modes are challenged, giving the participant the opportunity to leave his or her comfort zone or current ”knowledge

base”.  This departure begins the journey of the learning.

To have an environment where image isn’t everything and  results are produced out of the desire to participate and have fun makes the learning process more enjoyable. Experiential program are learning laboratories incognito.
