DescriptionThe year was 1968 and two young men who were just completing their first year as teachers wondered what they could do for the summer.Having been involved in camping since the age of seven, when they bunked together at sleep-away camp for three summers, cousins Neil Pollack and Michael Pollack decided to operate their own day camp. In 1968 they found a beautiful piece of property located on a lake that, at that time, seemed to lay beyond the edge of the earth (the LIE only went to exit 61 in Holbrook) and they had to reach the camp site through streets with quaint names such as Farm to Market, and Horseblock Road! Since 1968 our organization, whose motto is "We Are Family," has grown to include the following in its family of child-related programs: 1. Brookhaven Country Day Camp - Located on 24 manicured acres and a mile-long lake in Yaphank. Serves children ages 3 to 15 including Teen Travel Program. C.I.T. (Counselor-in-Training) program is a program designed for campers entering grades 9 and 10 to help them develop into future counselors, as well as any other positions of responsibility they may ultimately assume. This program includes several great trips, including Dorney Park, Great Adventure, a Mets baseball game and Lake Compounce Amusement Park. 2. Brookhaven Country Preschool, located on the grounds of the Day Camp, provides child care for preschool age children through age five. Details
