DescriptionIncorporated in 1869 under the terms of a bequest by John Cleveland, The Cleveland Home operated in Versailles, KY first as an orphanage to educate, feed and clothe the "poor orphan female children of this state" and later as a residential treatment facility for femal adolescents. Life Adventure Center of the Bluegrass has an outstanding history of appreciating the land we live on. We take great pride in being good stewards of the environment and teaching others to as well. In 1964, Judge Field McLeod donated nearly 400 acres of farmland on Milner Road in Woodford County to The Cleveland Home. Originally, the farm was operated as a tobacco, hay, and livestock farm. Today, with the purchase of a neighboring property, LAC encompasses 575 acres - 1/2 of which is heavily wooded (3rd largest wooded area in Woodford County) and the other 1/2 remains active farmland. Life Adventure Center currently has 80 acres designated for the Equine Program, over 100 acres leased out to a commercial beef cattle operation, 40 acres in a Wildlife Habitat Improvement Program (WHIP), 40 acres in Timber Stand Improvement (TSI), and 40 acres in the Crop Restoration Program (CRP). We have 6 ponds, multiple creeks, and over 10 miles of marked trails in our woods that are suitable for both trail riding on horses and hiking. Details
