The Legends of Baseball Camps are an opportunity for “Men of Good Cheer” over the age of 30 to come together and participate in the grand old game of baseball on Doubleday and other area fields. The average age of our participants is 43 years, and continues to have a desire to play the game of their youth. With the addition of a few modifications to the long established rules of baseball, such as 7-inning games, generous substitution rule, no stealing and no advancing on a passed ball or wild pitch, the Legends tournaments provide a unique opportunity for father, sons, daughters, brothers, grandsons, husbands and wives to play together on the same team.
To date, our oldest player is George Goodall (a young 95). In the 1930’s, George played and batted against Satchell Paige and other Hall-of-Famers such as Heiny Manusch and Goose Goslin. We all wish that George’s enthusiasm and love for the game will live in all of us as well as the youngsters coming after us. In a very real sense George Goodall is truly a “Legend of Baseball” in his own right.
Each player is responsible for their own uniform. The "Camp" will provide bats, balls, batting helmets, catcher's equipment, bubble gum, ice, band-aids. No trainer will be available.
Since 1994, the organizers have held more than 50 camps in Cooperstown and have enabled more than 1,000 ball players the opportunity to play on Doubleday Field. To date, we have had participants from more than 30 states and foreign countries including Russia, Portugal, Argentina, Japan and Canada.
The organizers would like to thank you for taking the time to learn more about us and the opportunity to enjoy the game of baseball, again.
