DescriptionAn experience like no other!!Our program has been in existence for over 25 years. The youth riding program accepts children from 6 years old to 18 years old. Safety is our first concern with your children. Our horses are trained show horses. Most retired from competition. We have everything from Minis to Drafts. All the children get to participate in english, western, bareback and driving the horses. By the end of their week they know the names of all 31 horses here!Horse care is taught from feeding, grooming, saddling, bridling and the best ~ bathing afterwards. Which always ends up as a good time with the children many times covered in more bubbles than the horses. The horses enjoy every aspect of having the children here. They love the attention. Our facility covers 30 acres of pastureland, directly across the street from the Parvin State Forest. We have a state of the art indoor riding arena for a comfortable shaded ride on long hot days. Our outside riding ring is loaded with lots of trail obstacles for the children to sharpen their skills on horseback. We have an outside jump course for the more experienced riders. The children will ride a minimum of 2 hours each day. Long pants and boots or shoes with a heel is needed. A riding helmet is mandatory. We will not provide one. A change of clothes is allowed after ride time. Sugar-free drinks, water and snacks will be provided. Bring a lunch. An educational hour is used to teach them the proper care of the horse and care of the tack. The rules of safety are discussed too. The question and answer session always brings so much to the class and furthers their knowledge and curiosity to what it may be like to lease or own a horse one day. Ofcourse the story telling time is a big hit too. We never run out of them. Every camper will bring home a memento from their week here. They get to make new friends that will last for years to come. You can also find us on Facebook and keep in touch with the instructors and get updates on their favorite horses. The owner/instructor, Dotty Orzechowski has been an accredited horse show judge for over 25 years. Her specialty is working with children. From 4H to breed shows she can make it fun and educational.
