DescriptionFamilies that were just getting by, with hope for a better future, are now falling through the cracks. They are making wrenching decisions, like whether to pay rent – or pay for medicine. What chance do children who are hungry or homeless have of starting school prepared and ready to succeed? You can make a difference in a big way. And in Westchester and Putnam, United Way operates through volunteers at both the countywide and local community levels. There is a volunteer Board of Directors that oversees the overall work of the two-county organization and there are local volunteer boards and committees that guide the work of the fifteen-member United Ways.
