Description

Menlo College is located on the San Francisco peninsula in the town of Atherton, a well-appointed residential community near the cities of Menlo Park and Palo Alto. The area ranks among the most attractive and dynamic in the world, with numerous cultural resources, temperate climate and all that the San Francisco metropolitan area can offer.

Directing this summer's camp is Menlo College’s Head Coach, Fred Guidici. The longest tenured member of the Menlo staff, Fred Guidici will begin his 14th season with the Oaks and first as interim head coach in the fall of 2009. Guidici also serves as the Recruiting Coordinator for the Department of Athletics.

Coach Guidici’s coaching resume includes stints with the San Jose SaberCats (1996-1998), Oakland Raiders (1995), Stanford University (1993-1994), Santa Clara University (1990-1992), and his alma mater, Blackford High School (1984-1989). Fred graduated from San Jose State University with a BS in marketing and a minor in economics. He resides in San Jose.

Coach Guidici has been instrumental in leading a number of record-setting special teams units at Menlo. In 2006, the Oaks Special Teams scored touchdowns in three consecutive games and four on the season. The team was led by All-American Kick Returner Jihad Mahasin, who led NCAA Div. III with 33.2 yards per return, and All-American Punt Returner Galen Perry, who finished 9th in the country with 15.2 yards per return. The Oaks led the Northwest Conference and finished fourth nationally with an average of 16.0 yards per punt return. The Oaks ranked 8th nationally in punt returns and 9th in kickoff returns in 2001. Under Coach Guidici’s tutelage, Menlo’s Special Teams has 39 blocked kicks since 1996.

Menlo has a proven record as an incubator of greatness. Many notable NFL stars have coached Menlo players – including 49er greats Eric Wright, Keena Turner, Guy McIntyre and Tom Rathman, Dallas Cowboy legend Doug Cosbie, NFL Defensive Player of the year, Keith Millard and current San Jose SaberCats quarterback, Mark Grieb. Menlo College alum, Bud Adams, is owner of the Tennessee Titans.
