Description

Prior to Island Escapades and his employment as a youth worker within the Salt Spring Island school district, Jack was a counselor of a wilderness program for B.C. Corrections. During these years, he had an incredible opportunity to explore the mountains and marine parks in and around Vancouver Island. This has led him to believe that even when compared with the many exotic, incredible places he has traveled in the world, British Columbia's West Coast is a true paradise! The spectacular scenery, diverse wildlife, and extensive wilderness, provide an incredible setting for enriching outdoor adventures. Island Escapades was created to facilitate some of these adventure activities. Jack, with his entertaining and charismatic personality, an extensive knowledge base and ability to teach, and a great love and respect for nature, is a first class guide, camp leader, and company director.Candace Snow is Co-Director of Island Escapades, Jack's wife and mother of their sons, Jade and Jasper. She has been instrumental in the business becoming the multi-faceted adventure company that it has. She is the master of organization and when the wheels of Island Escapades are really turning, Candace manages to keep things running smoothly and efficiently. She coordinates marketing and brochure development, is the office manager and payroll clerk, and looks after all the business finances. Candace has a flare for culinary preparation and a conscientiousness for providing food that is healthful as well as tasty and hearty. She is a the key person in menu planning, food ordering and purchasing for camps, expeditions and the popular gourmet Lunch and Dinner paddles.

Candace's education initially led her into the field of Social Work. However, employment in the hospitality industry became a much better alternative to allow for her extensive travel adventures, most of which were shared with Jack. After having their first child and setting down roots on Salt Spring Island in 1990, Candace and Jack opened up Lakeside Bed & Breakfast. The next 7 years became a whirlwind of activity with two young sons to care for, a busy B&B to run, and an Outdoor Adventure Company to help organize. The family has since retired from operating the Bed & Breakfast which has left more time and energy for Island Escapades.
