Description

Established in 1949, the Gravatt Camp and Conference Center is an Episcopal summer camp and conference center located outside of Aiken, South Carolina.

Gravatt exists to create a Christian environment for spiritual renewal, learning, and growth. We accomplish that by offering an outdoor Christian youth camp and by hosting conferences, meetings, training, and retreats. We serve churches and other not-for-profit organizations and groups whose purposes include human-development, character-development, education, or training.

Mission Statement

The Gravatt Camp and Conference Center is a sanctuary

for the ministry of Christian formation and hospitality.

Vision Statement

Our vision is to develop the Gravatt Camp and Conference Center as a sanctuary where lives can be changed and where God can be experienced; where diocesan congregations, individuals, and others will have opportunities for evangelism, Christian formation, retreat, and discovery; so that the Gravatt will be a diocesan home for all parishes and missions, a place of community and a source of strength, a place to share and grow in our corporate diocesan vision.

The first year I ever went to Camp Gravatt, I was 7 years old and had never been to an overnight camp before. I remember being so nervous and scared to make new friends, and to meet my counselor, and to be away from my parents for a whole week. I cant now say, 8 years from then, having attended Camp Gravatt more than once every summer since that year, that this camp now holds a permanent place in my heart. Last summer was my final summer as a camper, but I didn't let my camp experience end there. Earlier this summer, I went on to become a CIT, and in December I will find out if I am going to become a counselor. Camp Gravatt has been a key influence in my relationship with Christ. I believe that this camp really does live up to the vision statement it claims. Camp Gravatt is not only a place where God is experienced, but it is a place where God's presence can be felt: through the staff, the campers, and all of the activities. Love is spoken at this camp.
