The State Games of Mississippi began in 1992 with 1200 athletes competing in 12 sports. The 2010 State Games will consist of 29 sports with more than 5000 athletes competing.
The State Games of Mississippi is a privately-sponsored, non-profit organization that promotes amateur athletics and healthy lifestyles for Mississippians of all ages and abilities.
The State Games of Mississippi has added three new sports for the 2010 Games. Disc Golf, a growing sport in the state, will be held in Crystal Springs; Youth Swimming and Adult Tennis, which were a part of the Games several years ago, are back and will be held in Tupelo.
Our fabulous Opening Ceremonies, complete with the Parade of Athletes, the lighting of the torch and our fantastic fireworks show, will be held June 18 in downtown Meridian. You and yours will enjoy a tip-off party prior to the big event, with lots of fun things to do and great food to eat!
