DescriptionGirl Scouts is the preeminent organization just for girls. There has never been a better time to join a troop, become a volunteer, or embark on your very own Girl Scout journey. With over 500 programs designed especially for girls, 11 pristine camps, and six regional centers, Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is here to serve you! Troops are forming right now in your community. To learn more, contact your local regional center. Girl Scouting is embarking on an exciting evolution to better meet the needs of girls in today’s fast-changing world. Across the country, Girl Scout councils are merging together in order to ensure every girl receives the best Girl Scouting has to offer. Locally, we are also laying the foundation for an even stronger future. Five central Michigan councils — Glowing Embers, Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley, Girl Scouts Irish Hills, Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital, Girl Scouts of Mitten Bay and two jurisdictional changing councils – Girl Scouts of Fair Winds and Girl Scouts of Singing Sands are merging to form one great council. This endeavor is being led by the Council Realignment Committee (CRC), which is chaired by the Presidents and CEOs of each council. The new name for the merging councils is Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan (GSHOM). The target launch date for merging the councils was October 1, 2008. Girls are at the center of our transformation.
