Description

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Phil Steele's College Football Preview released its 2010 strength of schedule rankings Thursday and the publication thinks Louisiana Tech will have one of the toughest schedules in the Western Athletic Conference. The Bulldogs 2010 slate is ranked third in the WAC as LA Tech enters Sonny Dykes' first season as head coach. Phil Steele's College Football Preview ranks Louisiana Tech's schedule 73rd in the nation with only San Jose State (43rd) and Utah State (65th) having tougher slates in the WAC this year. The Bulldogs' tough schedule in 2010 includes a non-conference slate with a game at Texas A&M and home games against Navy and Southern Miss, three teams that played in bowl games last season. A total of eight teams on Tech's 2010 schedule played in bowl games last season but the Blue and Red have the advantage of facing five of those in the friendly confines of Joe Aillet Stadium. Phil Steele's College Football Preview is billed as the nation's most informative preseason football magazine. The publication takes two major factors into account when determining the strength of schedule rankings. The first is Phil Steele's nine sets of power ratings, ensuring that an FCS team is rated much lower than teams like Oklahoma and Southern Cal, two top 10 teams that were just 8-5 and 9-4 last year. The second factor is the amount of home and away games played. As an example, this year some teams will have as many as eight home games while others play as many as eight on the road. In April, Phil Steele's College Football Preview broke down all 120 teams and the combined 2009 opponents' records from last year. Louisiana Tech ranked 50th in the nation as Bulldog opponents went 83-71 last season with seven of Tech's opponents posting a winning record. Football season tickets are currently on sale as Tech fans can select from a number of ticket pricing plans for the upcoming season. The Family Pack is being offered again which includes two adults and three children tickets for the great low price of $275, a savings of $375 off regular ticket prices.
