The Ragin' Cajuns men's tennis team had it's No. 3 player make the All-Louisiana team as Tomasz Krzyzkowski earned second-team honors with his 17-3 singles record.
Undefeated Martina Rubesova of Northwestern State and LSU's No. 1 player Neal Skupski captured player of the year honors as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association announced its 2010 All-Louisiana College men's and women's tennis teams.
The teams were selected based on nominations made by the tennis playing schools in the state and voted on by an LSWA panel. All statistics and voting are based on play through each team's conference tournament appearance.
Rubesova, a sophomore from Usti na Laben, Czech Republic, was 18-0 in singles and 19-0 in doubles this year and was invited to the 64-player NCAA Tournament singles championship, the only Louisiana women's player invited this year. She helped the Lady Demons to a 21-2 record that earned them Southland Conference regular season and tournament titles. The sophomore played NO. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles for the Lady Demons after transferring from the University of Economics in Prague. Rubesova was also chosen Louisiana Newcomer of the Year for first-year players in the state.
Neal Skupski, the younger brother of former LSU two-time singles All-American Ken Skupski, peaked at No. 26 in the ranking this year. The sophomore from Liverpool, England, defeated nine nationally-ranked opponents and earned team MVP honors after anchoring LSU at the No. 1 spot. He was also an individual entrant for the Tigers in the NCAA singles championship.
