The Village Glen opened its doors in the early 1970s at a time when the tennis industry was booming and tennis was the sport of choice. In December 2006, the club was purchased as an overall plan to expand its market to include the north towns. The initial acquisition, South Towns Tennis Club, services the south towns. Today, new management has changed its name to the Village Glen Tennis Club, completely renovated the facility, built a new Pro Shop, created professional office space on the second floor, improved the indoor and outdoor tennis courts, converted unused space into an indoor soccer facility and recently hired Stephen Sayoc, as the Director of Tennis of both tennis facilities. Stephen is a USPTA and PTR certified professional with over 20 years of teaching experience. Through his leadership, South Towns and the Village Glen have earned the designation and recognition as the "Top 50 Tennis Welcome Centers of 2007" by the Tennis Industry Association, U.S. Tennis Association and the trade magazine Racquet Sports Industry. He is credited with leading the charge in the growth of the sport by providing well-rounded programs to new and current players of all ages and abilities. Mr. Sayoc earned his bachelor degree in Psychology from UB and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and Education from the University of San Francisco.
