DescriptionThe Young Men's Christian Association was founded in London, England, on June 6, 1844, in response to unhealthy social conditions arising in the big cities at the end of the Industrial Revolution (roughly 1750 to 1850). In 1851, the YMCA was established in Boston. It wasn't until quite some time later (130 years or so) that the Cleveland County Family YMCA came along, although there was a YMCA on the University of Oklahoma campus in the early 1900s. Since 1981, the Cleveland County Family YMCA has been serving the community. The first facility was based out of an employee exercise center at Totco Oil Corporation in 1983. We established our current location in 1985. In 1997, an aerobics/multipurpose room and game room were added to the facility. The CCFYMCA has recently added on more than 11,000 square feet to the facility, and the new main entrance opened to members in May 2006. A new family locker room was opened in December of 2006. Renovations were made in 2007 to the adult and youth locker rooms. Details
