The staff at WSU invites players ages 6-9 to attend four days of baseball training learning the basic fundamental skills and techniques in throwing, base running, hitting, pitching, infield, outfield, catching and all other areas of playing baseball at a successful level.



Daily Camp Routine: Each day the campers will start by getting a thorough lecture in base running techniques and drill for 20 minutes, starting at home plate and working around to each base. Then they will get a thorough lecture on throwing technique, starting with the grip and learning the proper way to play catch from short to long distance. Next, we will work on their Defensive Development. Over the four days, all the campers will spend an hour learning the techniques and drills of each one of the main four positions: infield, outfield, pitching and catching. After defense, we will spend over an hour each day on hitting technique, starting with a thorough lecture and continuing with hitting stations that are drill related to the lectures. Each day, daily hitting routines will be set and the hitting will progress from learning how to grip the bat properly to using the lower and upper body properly, which includes stride to the load and hand path. At the end of each day, we will spend a half hour playing an assortment of competitive games on the main field. Parents are more than welcome to attend all sessions of the camp. The last day of camp we will have a pizza party and hand out awards during the closing ceremonies.
