Description

Timberlane is dedicated to ensuring your child has a great experience through activities designed to help develop their body awareness and physical conditioning. We will encourage the campers to have Fun and learn new skills. Our goal is to create a positive environment where full effort and fair play are encouraged.

Our staff will lead by example by bringing a positive attitude each day. Your child can look forward to well organized, instructional and challenging activities rain or shine, delivered by qualified, motivated and enthusiastic staff. In the event of rain, Timberlane has five indoor tennis courts, two international squash courts and two large aerobic studios to continue the programs. Lunch times will be supervised by the counselors and served in the lunch room. We will ask parents to indicate in writing the people who will be picking up the campers each day so that we can have them sign the kids out at end of day.

This program is designed for intermediate to advance players ages 6 to 10 who have spent some time playing full court tennis with regulation balls (Exceptions will be made for students who show above average athletic ability). Smaller court size and pressure-less balls will be used where needed. The overall goal of this program is to get the player ready for competition (i.e. league play, OTA tournaments). The training will consist of 3 elements; mechanical, physical conditioning and strategic thinking. The mechanical element will focus on improving stroke production via feeding, drills and demos. Some video analysis will be used. The physical conditioning will include on and off court exercises to improve muscular and cardiovascular development as well as footwork and hand-eye coordination. The strategic thinking element will be comprised of shot selection, ball placement, offensive/defensive tactics and transition tennis. This program is highly motivational and goal oriented. Weaknesses are identified early and worked on to increase confidence. The effort level is expected to be at 110%.
