DescriptionSeveral Butler baseball players are playing summer collegiate ball across the country this summer. Here is an update on how eight of the Bulldogs are faring: Four current Dawgs – Billy Laing, Corey Moylan, Mike Hoscheit and Brian Padove – are playing with the defending national champion Crystal Lake Cardinals of the Chicago Suburban League. Laing, a right-hander who will be a sophomore, has boasted a 4-1 record in his seven starts. He sports a 1.95 ERA over 32.1 innings. Moylan, a senior All-Horizon League player who was BU’s starting centerfielder, is batting .255 with a .381 on-base percentage. He has a homer and four doubles through 18 games. Hoscheit has been one of the Cardinals’ top hitters, batting .288 with five doubles and two triples. He has 12 runs and 14 RBIs in 24 games. Padove, a catcher, has seen limited action. He is 4-for-8 with a pair of runs scored. Sophomore right-hander Jared Earle is 2-0 with a 2.35 ERA for the Grand Lake Mariners of the Great Lakes League. Earle, who has 23 strikeouts in 23.0 innings, is holding summer league opponents to a .154 batting average. Details
