The George Washington University was founded in 1821 by an Act of Congress that sought to honor the hope of our nation’s first president that a higher education institution exist within the limits of the District of Columbia. Comprising approximately 70 total acres, the university consists of two campuses located within 5 miles. The Mount Vernon campus, on which our program will be held, is a more traditional college campus setting nestled within a residential neighborhood. The close proximity of this campus to the downtown area provides ample opportunities to tour our nation’s foundational history. A visit to The White House, a tour of government buildings and national monuments, or an afternoon at the Smithsonian Institute are among the many options available to visitors wanting to experience the area.
