DescriptionCamp Idyllwild is a unique summer day camp for children 5 to 11 years old that was founded by Eric and Suzanne Ward, scientists and parents of three young children inspired by the research of Richard Louv, author of the bestselling book “Last Child In the Woods: Saving our Children From Nature Deficit Disorder”. The camp name is a blend of the two words “Idyllic” and “Wild”, which describe the experiences to be had at Camp Idyllwild. Activities take place on 30 scenic and private acres that include woods, hills, trails and meadow surrounded by the pristine spring-fed Blue Buck Creek. Activities such as tree climbing, fort building, creek exploration, hiking, arts & crafts, organic gardening, pottery, archery, wood working, field games, and nature study are carefully planned to ensure children are inspired and develop a deep respect for our environment. Camp Idyllwild is a member of the Children & Nature Network, and a pledging member of the Tennessee Pollution Prevention Partnership. Details
