Description

Rundle’s Mission is perfect for family reunions, youth groups, business retreats, sports and craft clubs and individuals wanting a break from their hectic lifestyle. We have been host to church and school groups, educational seminars, meditation retreats, Brownies and Scout troops, hospital planning seminars and hostel programs. Our accommodations consist of 3 facilities – The Memorial Lodge , House #1 and House #2. You may book one or all depending on the number of people in your group and the activities you have planned.

Rundle’s Mission has been part of Alberta for the past 150 years when The Rev. Robert Terrill Rundle established the mission in 1847. Today, we are a designated Alberta Historic Site and continue to be a “meeting place” where we welcome visitors, offer educational programs, care for the surrounding Nature Conservancy, and provide affordable accommodation for groups and individuals who appreciate our site.

Along the northwest shore of Pigeon Lake is a trail that was travelled by aboriginal people for centuries. An artesian well along the trail offered fresh drinking water for both man and beast. It was this site that the Rev. Robert Rundle chose in 1847 as the location for a mission.

During the mid 1800s, people from different cultures met at the shores of Pigeon Lake. Today, new curriculum-based school programs teach students about the stories associated with this particular place and region, how the people here coped with and affected change and how this history is related to life in the region today.
