Hey thanks for stopping by our place on the Web. I am Roy Glass, the new director of Camp Tuk-A-Way. It was at a campfire in this very camp in 1970, where I answered the call of God on my life to enter into ministry. The next two summers were spent working full-time right here and then it was off to college and then on to other ministries as a Youth Pastor and Senior Pastor. Over the years since then, I have been a part of conferences, camps and retreats all over the US - in OH, PA, MD, CO, CA, MN, AZ, NY, KY, IN, NC, VA, TN and even Russia. During all those years it was always a life-long dream to come back one day to where it all started – right here at Camp Tuk-A-Way. As of February 1st 2009, that dream has come true.
As a Pastor over the years, I have seen conferences, camps and retreats be used by God like no other ministry in the Church. There is something about getting away from all the distractions of life and getting into God’s great outdoors that brings young people closer in their relationship with their Creator. “All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made.” John 1:3. ESV. When children, young people and even adults connect and interact with nature they begin to see the Creator reflected in His creation and they respond to His Word.
While Tuk-A-Way has much to offer on site, (with even more coming in the future), this area of Virginia also adds depth to the Tuk-A-Way experience. Rafting the New, hiking to the Cascades or on the Appalachian Trail, going underground in one of the many area commercial or even wild caves, hunting in the Jefferson National Forest, fishing in the state-stocked trout stream just a couple miles down the road from camp - the outdoor activities available to enhance your camping experience are endless.
