DescriptionThe Eureka Center is a family run retreat center and summer camp. The founders and owners Steve Holt and Yvette McGowan, married for 22 years, currently live in Northern Idaho with their two children Savannah and Django. Together Yvette and Steve have transformed the Eureka Center from raw land into a natural retreat, with an outdoor amphitheater, garden, playground activities and many other features. They are always working towards the dream, self sufficiency and sustainable community. As an environmental activist and President of the Panhandle Environmental league, and well as President of the newly formed Lake Pend Oreille Waterkeeper, Steve has dedicated himself to assisting in the stewardship of water quality in Bonner County. Yvette is a Waldorf-trained school teacher, and splits her time between the Eureka Center, teaching at the Sandpoint Waldorf School, dancing and yoga. Both are artists, Steve a musician, and Yvette an avid knitter and seamstress. They are also outdoor enthusiasts enjoying running, skiing, biking, kayaking, and fly-fishing. Their love of the Sandpoint area and eagerness to share the stunning beauty of the North Idaho panhandle with adults and children inspired the creation of Eureka Center. Details
