Description

Welcome to Mt. Shasta, the second highest volcano in the United States and a major peak of the Cascade range, a volcanic region which extends from British Columbia to northern California's Mt. Lassen. This magnificent mountain rises 14,162 feet, and its base is more than 17 miles in diameter. Eight superb glaciers, California's largest, adorn its flanks. All of this is complimented by splendid meadows of wildflowers, groves of Shasta Red Fir, and numerous mystical legends.

Shasta Mountain Guides was founded in 1982 and is directed by Chris and Jennifer Carr.  SMG believes in providing the highest quality experience for climbers on Mt. Shasta. Our guides are true mountain professionals committed to sharing their array of skills and passion for climbing and skiing. All of our trips and courses prioritize a safe and fun experience, while learning new skills and achieving your goals. We at SMG are extremely excited for our 27th season of climbs and courses on Mt. Shasta. Please call us and let us help you plan your adventure.

We are eagerly anticipating the upcoming winter where meteorologists are calling for a strong el nino. This translates to deep snow here in Northern California and we are excited about powder skiing and excellent summer climbing!

We have posted our 2010 calendar for our upcoming Avalanche Education and Climbing programs. Please contact us with any questions at all or to make a reservation.

Welcome to Shasta Mountain Guides, since 1982 leading the highest quality adventures on California's most spectacular peak. We are mountain professionals committed to your safety and enjoyment. As guides and friends, we specialize in Mount Shasta.
