CampDepot.com began its operation on Jan. 4, 2000, with funding provided by several Venture Capital (VC) firms. CampDepot.com's objectives are twofold. The first goal is to be an e-Business company for all parties involved in providing extracurricular activities for children. These parties are camps, after-school programs, staff, and vendors. CampDepot.com provides a venue where these parties can promote themselves and find one another to transact business. To do so, we created a B2B MarketPlace where camps and after-school programs can procure products and services and where vendors can sell their wares. We have Yellow Pages and Auction Buys to help both buyer-side and supplier-side transactions. We also provide job listings for both camps and after-school programs, allowing them to fill their staffing needs. Lastly, CampDepot.com is a technology provider that, offers services and tools to help camps, after-school programs, and vendors operate their businesses better through the Internet. Our second and complementary objective is to become the indispensable Web site for parents and educators when it comes to extracurricular activities. Not only can they find useful information and advice about what to do, but they also can search for relevant programs in the locations they specify. CampDepot.com has the most sophisticated search engine for camps (as recognized by Ekocamp International), while providing many services for camps (and, soon, after-school programs), campers, job seekers, educators, and vendors. We have started to list after-school programs, and we expect to be equally successful in helping parents find after-school programs and helping after-school programs acquire new customers and secure cheaper procurement sources.
