In 1947, God worked through David and Ellen Pritchard, missionaries of the American Sunday School Union (now known as American Missionary Fellowship), to start a Bible Camp for young people. The Elks Lodge of Devils lake let them use the youth camp facilities they owned at Wood Lake. They furnished the camp, propane, electricity and equipment free until 1972 when health restrictions made it impossible for them to continue. After that time FaHoCha became a "gypsy camp", meeting at Camp MonDak, the Peace Gardens and Lake Washington School. In 1976 the camp moved to the present location nestled beside South Lake Washington in Eddy County nine miles south of Warwick, ND.
A contest was held at that first camp in 1947 to come up with a name for the camp. Reverend Perkins, now with the Lord, submitted the winning name taken from 1 Cor. 13:13; (FA)ith, (HO)pe (CHA)rity.
In 1968, the American Sunday School Union field closed in the North Dakota area and Stan & Simone Hockett were urged to stay and continue ministry. The ministry was continued independently incorporated as The Northern North Dakota Christian Association. In 1971, the process began to change the name and incorporation of the over all ministry to FaHoCha Bible Conference. Through all the changes the camp portion of the ministry remained FaHoCha Bible Camp. Ministries beside the Bible Camp have included: home Bible studies, pulpit supply, visitation, youth rallies, vacation Bible schools, and Pastor's Network.
