DescriptionCamp Stone is an Orthodox Jewish summer camp located in Western Pennsylvania. Altough we are affiliated with Young Israel and the Bnei Akiva youth movement, our Machane provides a truly unique experience that you will find nowhere else. Our vision is to cultivate within every child that walks through the gates of Camp Stone an unwavering lifelong commitment to Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael, and Torat Yisrael. We encourage our campers to develop their own individual leadership potential, enable them to become self-reliant, and encourage them to become a contributing and functional member of the group or "kvutza." At the same time we aim to provide a safe, nurturing, and family-like environment in which we care for our campers' physical, emotional, and educational needs. The avira, or atmosphere, at Camp Stone is relaxed, rustic, intimate, warm, fun, awesome, at times intense, friendly, high energy, powerful, and exhausting. Our 400 acre exquisite woodland campus is an ideal setting for creating our own religious-zionist community. Although Camp Stone boasts an up-to-date facility which includes a renovated kitchen and main dining hall, a gorgeous swimming pool, a newly expanded Beit Midrash, and a beautiful new Beit Kneset, we place a heavy emphasis on the appreciation of simple and modest living. In order to maintain the close-knit family-like atmosphere and high staff-to-camper ratio, we limit the number of campers. The avira that we try to create is evident in everything we do. The incomparable lebedik Shabbat experience, the close lifelong friendships which are forged, and the pioneering spirit of the "Chutz" (three day overnight) are all tangible expressions of this avira. Where else can campers become soldiers in the Israel Defense Force at a real U.S. Army Base, or relive the experience of being an illegal immigrant evading "British" motor boats on Chautauqua Lake? Our campers have tie-dyed Yosef's coat of many colors, Sumo wrestled at Pharaoh's birthday party, celebrated the marriage of Ruth and Boaz and danced and sang at the Besht's Tisch. At Camp Stone nothing is impossible!! Through our innovative, spectacular, and unique programs we actualize the Noseh or theme of the month to relive and recreate concepts and periods in Jewish History. New to the camp is a 1/4th scale model of the Beit Hamikdash and mizbeach, which we use to give our campers a hands-on experience of avodah and korbanot as if they were really there.
