Description

Nestled among tall, whispering poplars and Virginia pines of the 19,000-acre Appomattox-Buckingham State Forest, and caressed by beautiful, clear, Holiday Lake, this 4-H Educational Center is the best kept secret in Virginia.

Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center is more than a meeting place or retreat camp--it is an experience of unforgettable memories!

Located only 14 miles northeast of the town of Appomattox, Holiday Lake 4-H Center is within easy driving of many Virginia cities including Richmond, Lynchburg, Roanoke, Charlottesville and Farmville

During the months of October through April (by the day or week) and weekends year-round, Holiday Lake 4-H Center facilities are available for groups of up to 120 to experience the stress-free, back-to-basics atmosphere.

The full-service Conference facilities include a main meeting room that seats up to 60 people and is equipped with video capabilities including a projection screen, overhead projection, TV and VCR.

The Rachel F. Lawson family dining center is a 24 x 120-ft. heated/air conditioned area that can double as an activities room. There is a smaller dining room attached to the main hall that seats 40, with meal service and kitchen facilities for small groups.

There is a lodge available with two main rooms, 12 bunk beds each and two baths, and bunkhouse with four rooms that sleep 16 each and two bathrooms. The recently renovated bunkhouse sleeps 32 (linens not provided).

Outdoor recreational facilities include canoeing and/or fishing on 150 acre Holiday Lake (Northern Pike, Bass, Blue Gill, Crappie, and Pickerel abound). A main fishing dock, three hiking trails -- one five-mile trail that follows the shoreline of the lake and two nature trails. The Center also has available two rifle ranges along with an archery range and skeet field, volleyball court, softball field, Jr. Olympic swimming pool (summers only), covered picnic area and an instructor-led high and low-ropes course for building self-esteem and team cooperation. Recreational equipment is provided
