Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp is located in Sterling Alaska and is dedicated to challenging hearts to change through the teaching and preaching of God’s Word… all for God’s glory. We believe that the Bible has all the answers to questions about life and godliness. (II Peter 1:1-4) We also believe that the heart of man needs to be regenerated (changed from spiritually dead to alive) and transformed (changed from man centered thinking to God centered thinking). It is our desire to share the good news of the gospel with the lost and to encourage and build up in the faith those who know Christ.
HGBBC hosts various camps and retreats throughout the year. The summer months are dedicated to ministering to young people in age-graded, week long residence camps. During the fall, winter and spring we have retreats for young people and adults. These retreats include ladies retreats, men’s retreats, young people’s retreats, Bible quizzing retreats, crafter’s retreats, pastor’s retreats, etc.
HGBBC is owned by the Alaska Baptist Association, a fellowship of independent, fundamental Baptist churches.
Higher Ground Baptist Bible Camp began as a ministry of the Alaska Baptist Association in the mid 1960’s east of Homer Alaska. In the mid 1970’s the camp was moved to the 155 acre property in Sterling. For almost four decades, Higher Ground has provided, through dedicated and trained staff, a balanced camping and retreat program to meet the spiritual and physical needs of men, women, boys and girls from around the state. The Alaska Baptist Association is incorporated as a non-profit organization comprised of Independent Fundamental Baptist Churches located in Alaska.
