Located in scenic Errol, New Hampshire, about an hour from North Conway, Northern Waters is set on the Androscoggin River. In the immediate vicinity, there are remote interconnecting rivers and lakes offering the most exciting canoe camping and outdoor recreation possibilities in the Northeast. Our center contains an outfitting store, tent campground, shower, rec. hall and equipment rentals program. Motels, restaurants and stores are nearby. This is also the place to come to learn kayaking in a pristine, uncrowded setting with excellent fishing and camping.

There is a wealth of good flatwater in this area. The Magalloway River, Lake Umbagog, Rangely Lakes and the Androscoggin can be combined for canoe trips of one day to a week. These trips are in the Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge area, which has spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. Salmon and trout fishing are excellent. We maintain wilderness riverside campsites in this area.

At Northern Waters, we teach paddlers the techniques of paddling safely with a sense of quality that might be called “style.” Our staff is made up of highly qualified teachers chosen for their maturity, teaching ability and paddling skill. There are several course lengths offered, from 2 to 4 days. These programs are designed for the beginner and advanced beginner whitewater paddlers and fundamentals are stressed. Taught in 3 hour periods, the 2-day course usually provides students with enough skill to enjoy Class II water, while 4-day course students usually can progress to Class III waters.
