High Rocks alumnus and current AmeriCorps Vista Meike Schleiff had a very personal reason to want to help on hearing about the devastating earthquake in Haiti. After teaching English on the island for two months last year and returning to visit only days before the quake hit, Meike knew her friends needed help. Joining with her Haitian students and with High Rocks supporters to identify needs and gather funds to meet those needs, Meike has helped organize an effective on-the-ground effort that meets needs that other international aid agencies are not able to meet.

High Rocks is an award-winning leadership program for young women ages 13-25. We offer exciting programs year-round.High Rocks works with girls who have good grades and girls who are less successful in school. However, what they have in common is their heart and their deep desire to make the world a better place. The dream of High Rocks is that one day it will become self-sustaining. High Rocks girls will grow up to become staff and board to run High Rocks for the next generation. This dream is becoming a reality! We have four alums on our board and several have worked as staff members.
