Description Then in 1979 Camp Cohila was sold to the Beverly Pines Development Co.They drew up plans for developing the property into a subdivision. The land was divided into 133 lots. Not only were streets, such as Sugarpine and Hillendale to be extended, but also Fox Farm Road was to be extended to enter the camp from the south and come across the south side toward the east. Two additional East to West streets were to be added, one across the north side and one through the middle of the camp. Four cul-de-sacs were also to be attached to these proposed new roads. Over 9500 linear feet of streets were planned for construction. Of the 133 proposed lots, fifteen of the houses along the north side of Camp Cohila would back up to the now existing homes on the south side of Raleigh. But factors such as the water moratorium in the early 1980's caused Beverly Pines to default on their loan and the property was returned to the Camp Fire Girls. Three routes are available to Engedi: the highway 38 route, the highways 330 & 18 route and the Victoreville & highway 18 route. The highway 38 route is recommended for those who cannot handle curvy roads. The Victorville & highway 18 route is recommended when it is snowing.
