State US Youth Soccer ODP tryouts. NJYS begins its ODP tryouts during the first two weeks of August before the start of the seasonal year. The U13 and U14 age groups start at a area level within the state and at the end of the initial tryouts, two initial state pools of players are selected. The U15 through U17 age groups conduct a state wide tryout and a initial pool is selected at each age group. Because of high school commitments and weather, the final tryouts are held in April of the next calendar year. At that point a final state pool is selected and the players then have a once a week 8 week training season. The teams have an event during the first weekend in June, the Region I ODP Tournament during the second weekend in June and the program concludes with the Regional Camps held in July. ...
