After going 15 years between NCAA Tournament appearances, the Washington University men's tennis team has now made 10-straight showings in the postseason following NCAA berths in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Ninth-year head coach Roger Follmer, the 2006 and 2009 Wilson/ITA National Division III Coach of the Year, did not waste any time establishing himself both regionally and nationally in the college tennis world. Follmer has mentored 22 All-Americans to date --- Brian Alvo (2002, 2004), Charlie Cutler (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009), Chris Hoeland (2007, 2008, 2009), Neil Kenner (2003), Ari Rosenthal (2003, 2004, 2005, 2006), Isaac Stein (2010), John Watts (2007, 2008, 2009, 2010) and Max Woods (2010).

Furthermore, the team was invited to the Division III NCAA Indoor National Tennis Championships in 2003 and 2004, with the top-eight teams in the country, and finished as a runner-up in 2009. His team also qualified for the NCAA Quarterfinals in 2003, 2004, 2007, 2008 and 2009. In addition, Kenner and Rosenthal advanced to the Final Four of the doubles championship in 2003, while Watts lost in the single championship in 2007.

Follmer's players have also been getting the job done in the classroom. For the 2008-09 school year, the Bears boasted a 3.56 team grade-point average to earn 2009 ITA All-Academic Team honors.

Washington University has been a proud member of the University Athletic Association (UAA) since 1988, and captured its first-ever conference title with a 5-4 victory over then No. 1 ranked Emory University on April 19, 2009, in Rochester, N.Y.

The Bears also have a proud tradition that dates back over 50 years. Several Washington University players made their mark on the national scene both in intercollegiate play and in amateur competition. As a team, Washington U. qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 1963, 1964 and 1965.
