DescriptionScouting has a long and deep history in Eastern Iowa. From the beginning of the Boy Scouts of America in 1910, there have been Scouts in Eastern Iowa. The current organizational structure was established in 1952 when Waubeek Area Council and Iowa City Area Council merged to create Hawkeye Area Council. Since then, hundreds of thousands of Scouts have been served in Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, and Washington counties. The Hawkeye Area Council, Boy Scouts of America provides programs to over 7,000 youth each year. As one of the area’s largest youth programs, the BSA provides a program that builds character, teaches valuable life skills, and allows youth to have fun while learning.Since 1937 Scouts from across the United States and the world have been gathering at the Boy Scouts of America National Scout Jamboree. The next National Jamboree will be held at Fort A.P. Details
