The founders of Ojai Valley School, which was established in 1911, believed that children learned best through experience and sought to establish a school that would emphasize experiential learning and a love for the outdoors. That history and philosophy continue today.
Ojai Valley School is an independent, co-educational boarding and day school serving more than 300 students from pre-kindergarten to twelfth grade in beautiful Ojai, California.
Our school is located on two campuses in the Ojai Valley. The Lower School, near downtown Ojai, enrolls 187 students in grades pre-kindergarten to eight. The Upper School, located seven miles to the east, enrolls 117 students in grades nine to twelve. The academic program on both campuses is challenging and well-rounded, encouraging students to explore their interests, know themselves, and develop a respect for others. Students participate in outdoor education, equestrian, fine and performing arts programs, as well as athletics and community service.
Our campuses benefit from a diverse group of students whose cultures and experiences enrich the lives our entire community. Currently, about 20% of our student body is comprised of international students from 13 different countries, including Belguim, China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Russia, Thailand, and Saudi Arabia. Both campuses offer English as a Second Language instruction.
In addition to our academic year programs, OVS also offers extensive Summer School opportunities for students in grades pre-kindergarten to twelve. Students can take academic classes while participating in sports, equestrian, performing arts, and other programs.
Ojai Valley School is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools and California Association of Independent Schools.
