At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that a fully rounded education means addressing the mind, body, and spirit of each child. We are also keenly aware that girls and boys learn differently, and we address their needs accordingly. We welcome students of all faiths, creeds and cultures and provide them with the education they need to be tomorrow's leaders; to be fully prepared to engage their world.
Founded in 1849, Sacred Heart School of Halifax is a Catholic independent school with coed elementary and separate girls' and boys' high school divisions. Our mission is to educate the whole child intellectually, spiritually, emotionally and physically in a caring environment. A challenging academic program, including Advanced Placement courses, fosters student development and nurtures a love of learning. A strong extracurricular program encourages varied interests and talents.
The issues for both the President and independent schools are, admittedly, on different scales, but their complexity creates even greater challenge for the leadership of our schools as it does for the leadership of a super power.
