Description

Since 1927, YMCA Camp Hanes has been creating summer camp memories that last a lifetime. We are also a venue for conferences and retreats and offer hands-on environmental education for students of all ages. The camp is located at the base of Sauratown Mountain, just 30 minutes north of Winston-Salem, NC.  YMCA Camp Hanes is a branch of the YMCA of North West North Carolina.

At YMCA Camp Hanes we love our summer campers, conferees, and Outdoor Education students, chaperones and teachers. We are committed to ensuring every experience results in our ABCs of Camp Hanes being accomplished in our participants by increasing one’s sense of Accomplishment, sense of Belonging and learning the Character traits of respect, responsibility, honesty, faith and caring in a Christian camp environment. In  June of 1927, Harry Long brought a small group of young boys from Winston-Salem to the all new John W. Hanes Memorial YMCA camp to experience the great outdoors! Over eighty years later more than over 15,000 year round participants come to YMCA Camp Hanes to experience the great outdoors, make lifelong friends and create lasting memories at the “400 Acre Memory Maker” YMCA Camp Hanes.

We listen and want to hear from our campers, parents, teachers, conferees, donors and board members. We see our partnerships making us better and better every year. Our desire is to be the very best summer camp and conference center in the world. Our board and staff have a bold vision for Camp Hanes as seen in our 2010-2012 Strategic Plan.
