Engineering Science Quest (ESQ) is a not-for-profit program that operates with the goal of exposing children, in the Kitchener-Waterloo region and beyond, to the worlds of Engineering, Science and Technology through a variety of fun engaging hands on activities. We encourage you to explore our website and find out more about what we offer.
ESQ is offered in conjunction with the University of Waterloo's Faculties of Engineering and Science
Engineering Science Quest, a non-profit organization was founded in the fall of 1990 with the goal of exposing children in grades 5 and 6 to engineering and science in a fun and innovative hands-on manner. Primarily promoting itself through in-school workshops ESQ filled the eight camps offered that summer with 200 campers. The staff size for this year was three people.
A lot has changed since that first year. Today ESQ employs over 50 staff and offers several distinct camps for children entering grade 1 to high school. In addition to this ESQ now offers a technology camp, and a satellite program which runs camps in rural Ontario. During the traditional ‘off-season’ in September to May, ESQ offers a variety of weekend workshops, in-school workshops and a March Break camp. ESQ is now regarded by many as a leader in hands-on engineering, science and technology activities in south-western Ontario and is a proud member of Actua, a national body of like-minded camps. ESQ is no longer simply a camp, but is now a year round learning experience.
