Description

It is our belief that individuals grow significantly when they encounter and successfully surmount a range of challenges, mastering new skills, getting out of their comfort zone, or engaging in physically and interpersonally demanding activities.

To make this possible, teenagers need a safe and caring environment within which to test themselves. Safety is our number one priority. It is a constant theme in our pre-season preparation, our staff training, and our interactions with the kids. In this environment, teenagers can establish patterns of success. Success breeds confidence and allows teenagers to enhance their own personal style of leadership. Through open and honest communication with peers and adults, teenagers can develop insight into who they are and how they interact with others.

The time since the summer of ‘81 is as vivid to us as if it were yesterday. That first season, Longacre Expeditions gave 34 teenagers the best summer of their lives. Our “Base Camp” was a horse barn in Markelsville, PA. Merry Schuler led a group of teenagers on our very first Blue Ridge expedition. Matt Schuler spent most of his summer as a van driver. Roger Smith was busy launching a participatory science center in Harrisburg.

At one of our teen international adventure camp expeditions for boys and girls, you will undertake a remarkable journey to expand your understanding of and appreciation for other cultures and our planet as a whole. Immerse yourself in a foreign culture. Practice a new language. Engage in awesome adventures and community service activities, we even offer international surf camp programs for both boys and girls. Learn to truly appreciate a different way of life. On all of our international teen adventures, we participate in various community service adventures and make rewarding connections with the native people and its land. See the world, make it a better place, and be a part of an experience that will last a lifetime.
