DescriptionCamp Maple Leaf was originally started by the Canadian Council of War Veteran’s Associations in 1955. The camp is a living memorial, paying homage to Canadian soldiers who were killed in the line of duty. For over 40 years they offered the leadership that was necessary in order to offer a quality summer experience to children who, due to financial barriers, would not have been able to attend summer camp. In 1995 the ownership and operation of Camp Maple Leaf was transferred to Banyan Community Services with the promise that we would continue their work. Today, there are approximately 500 children each summer who are given the opportunity to thrive at Camp Maple Leaf for a week. The children who attend would not normally be given the opportunity due to financial and social barriers that they face daily in their lives. We continue to be supported by the same Veteran’s Associations and funds from this group and others are used to support the different projects at the camp. These include major renovations, capital projects, and providing financial support for the many children who are in need of camp subsidies. Details
