Kinhaven Music School has been educating young musicians since 1953. In 2010, Senior Session will run from June 25th to August 8th, and Junior Session from August 14th to 29th. All students reside on campus for the full term of their session.
Kinhaven is a chamber music based program that provides numerous opportunities for the student to perform. In addition, a variety of challenging orchestral repertoire is performed. Students receive private instruction, chamber coaching, and professional conducting. Senior Session features a guest conductor each week. Senior Session students also have the opportunity of studying with our composer-in-residence, the results of which are often performed at our annual student composer concert. Please see the 2009 schedule for the orchestral repertoire performed during Kinhaven's most recent Senior Session.
Weekend concerts are open to the general public, and parents are encouraged to attend. Please take advantage of the many Kinhaven concerts which are posted on YouTube.
The Kinhaven experience is one of community, shared learning and mutual support, in which friendship and encouragement are always present. Junior Session faculty and Senior Session faculty are chosen as much for their excellence in working with young musicians as for their outstanding credentials, and are very much a part of the daily community life. The faculty reside on campus during the sessions.
