Our fourth annual Ladies Tea fundraiser event will be held on Saturday, March 27. This event, while helping to raise funds for Youth Music Outreach, is also a day of relaxation for Ladies of all ages. Combining delicious food, beautiful music, fun decorations, a guest speaker, and a silent auction filled with fun items to bid on, this day has something for everyone. Music will be played by both small ensembles and the Wind Ensemble. Food will be prepared freshly, including scones, hand-dipped strawberries, quiche, and finger pastries, and will be served by members of Youth Music Outreach. Our speaker this year will be YMO’s Executive Director, Christele Rondeau. Come hear her testimony of God’s faithfulness as she shares lessons through a year of sickness that left her in a wheelchair. Hear the incredible ways God works in our lives when we are at our weakest. One of the best things that YMO students are able to do is to play several concerts at the same location. This past November and December, YMO students were able to play at past locations with wonderful responses. In November, the Jazz Combo headed back to Costa Mesa to play at a small house for residents. The people were so excited that they brought residents from three other houses to an outdoor concert. Staff also came, even though it was their day off work. The Wind Ensemble was then requested to come for the Christmas season as well. As they walked into the concert, the people remembered their previous concerts, exclaiming over their favorite players and sitting to talk with the members for almost an hour. In December, the Wind Ensemble went down to San Diego to play at LifeCare Center of America in Vista. This was the third visit to this skilled nursing facility and the visit caused a great showing of people. One YMO student brought a resident a picture from summer camp and other YMO students signed it for him. He was overjoyed that someone would remember him. As the students played, another woman, who has a condition in which she is not able to shed tears, was at a loss for words. She was overwhelmed at the music, especially the arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear? Another woman was excited to meet the boys and had two of them start calling her “Aunt Ro”. These repeated concerts help open the doors for students to get to know more of the people and give them extra care. What a special time to develop greater relationships and make an even greater impact on people in this world for Christ.
